Since Fairfield Hospital closed in 1999 Fairfield Bowls Club has changed significantly in terms of development and membership and is now the envy of many clubs throughout the area. In 2018 the Club commenced an expansion programme which was completed in 2021. This included additional external changing rooms, increased clubhouse function area, modernised kitchen and bar, ground improvements and the provision of an outside pétanque court. This development project could not have been completed without financial assistance from other sources.
One organisation that provided such support was the Eleemosynary Charity of William Field, which awarded a grant of £3,000 to Fairfield Bowls Club in January 2019. Each year this charity awards grants to local individuals and voluntary organisations that directly benefit residents or community groups in Fairfield and Stotfold.
With the support of the Eleemosynary Charity of William Field, and others, Fairfield Bowls Club has developed and become an important community asset to the residents of Fairfield. If any resident or organisation is interested in seeking financial support, Jean Bilson, who is clerk to the Trusees of the two local charities below, would be happy to provide application forms.
