The preparations for Apple Day on 13 September are well under way and there are lots of fun activities being planned, but the focus of Apple Day is of course the apples growing in our fabulous orchards and the community coming together to press them into juice. The juice is free to taste for all on the day and will also be used to produce this year’s batch of Fairfield cider. But your help is needed – both with the juicing itself and with the picking of apples ahead of the day.
Apple picking
Join us weekend, Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September, between 9.00am and 12.00pm to pick apples. Meet outside the Community Hall, where you’ll be given an apple picker. Crates for collecting the apples in will be situated in the orchards. Come as a family and get involved in the preparations for Fairfield’s biggest annual event.
Apple preparation and juicing
Volunteers are needed on 13 September from 11am to 4pm to help with apple sorting, cutting and juicing. If you are able to help you will be asked to sign up for a 30 minute slot – please email gdaffarn@gmail.com to sign up or for further details.
