The owners of the Codswallop fish and chip van which used to visit Fairfield every Friday evening posted the following message on their Facebook page at the beginning of September: “We have been told we can no longer park opposite Tesco’s on Friday nights by the management company Scanlans and Fairfield Park RCL. As we cannot find a viable alternative and don’t want to add to the already difficult parking we will unfortunately have to stop coming.”

We asked the FPRA for their side of the story, which goes like this: “The fish and chip van operator has repeatedly been asked not to park on private land without permission due to public liability concerns. After the most recent letter he decided not ony not to park there, but to leave Fairfield for good claiming there was nowhere else to park. We would point out his highly popular predecessor always parked on Dickens Boulevard itself.”
