A big thank you to all those residents who answered our call in last month’s FM to join us for a spot of litter picking. Sunday 10 April was gloriously sunny – it seemed that, just maybe, spring had arrived. An ideal day to pick up a load of rubbish!

We had recently acquired a stock of goodquality litter pickers and rubbish bag holders (what a difference they make to the picking!) and Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) had provided us with strong bags and a promise to collect them on our next bin day. So we were all set to reprise our Wombling roles and Make Fairfield Clean Again!

Lots of folks took up the challenge and an impressive haul was delivered to the Community Hall afterwards. All agreed it was a worthwhile exercise, which may become a regular event on the parish calendar. Watch out for notice of the next Community Clean Up Day – or, anytime you feel inclined, pop up to the Community Hall and borrow a picker and a bag to do your own thing.
