Since seven candidates were nominated for seven seats on Fairfield Parish Council (FPC) in the recent election, all seven candidates were elected. Last month we introduced you to the three new faces; this month we asked the four existing councillors who are staying on for the new term to tell us a little about themselves. Here’s what they told us.

Nick Andrews
I live in Middlemarch, Fairfield with My wife, Gail. We came here in 2006 to have a look at the new development and decided the same day to move from Hitchin and bought the house we still live in. Currently, I am the CEO of the EMEA region for the Boundless network, based in the United States. I am also the owner of a consultation company, N5 Consultants Ltd. I am mainly involved in Marketing and Promotional Goods distribution. My voluntary roles in Fairfield include (at the time of writing) Chair of Fairfield Parish Council, Chair of Fairfield Community Trust (Fairfield Community Hall) and Director and Co-Chair of Middlemarch Residents Association Ltd. I have just recently been elected as Ward Councillor of Central Beds Council for Arlesey and Fairfield. My main ambition is to leave Fairfield a place where all age groups can feel they are part of a great community to live in and will constantly look at new opportunities to improve what we already have.

Tony Hopkins
I have lived in Fairfield Gardens with my wife for two and a half years and been a councillor for about 20 months. Before moving to the area, I lived in Baldock and the surrounding areas for over 10 years. For my day job, I’m a Pre-Sales Engineer for a large vehicle manufacturer and in the past, I’ve been a special constable working in both Kent and Northamptonshire. I chose to become a councillor because I believe that everyone has a right to a safe community to live and work and by bringing my knowledge of community policing to the role, I believe I might be able to make a small difference, where needed. Since being a councillor, I have championed the views and issues of the residents of the Fairfield Gardens estate taking on several issues of concern to all those residents there and escalating those concerns where necessary to achieve a suitable outcome.

Anna Papakosta
I moved to Fairfield in 2015 from London and involved in the Fairfield community from the start. I am part of the NHS Professionals-Oncology and Radiotherapy and am the owner of a careers advice and training company based in London. My voluntary roles in Fairfield include Secretary of the Fairfield Community Trust, Director and Co-chair of Middlemarch Residents Association Ltd and Community Governor of Etonbury Academy. I chose to be a councillor because I want to make a difference in our local community. My main ambition is to make Fairfield greener and more sustainable. A place where all are proud to live in. I have been a councillor since December 2021 and since I have been involved in organising events and bringing the community together. This year I will be involved with the planning and Fairfield’s design statement, and I will be the lead organiser of our local events. I look forward to working together with our Parish and Ward Councillors in making Fairfield one of the best places to live in Central Bedfordshire.

Nick Reynolds
I have been a parish councillor for the last four years, and have found it fulfilling in being able to make a difference to the community where I live. I became involved in the Fairfield community very early on, helping the campaign to form the parish council, and joining the Fairfield Park Residents Association (FPRA) committee. After a few years I became Chairman of the FPRA. I am concerned with the safety of the community and I am also involved in running the Community Speed Watch group for the parish council. Another area of concern to me is the planning system and how it affects Fairfield. Fairfield is a unique place. The original design has won many awards, and it simply looks great. I will continue to strive to maintain the uniqueness and character of Fairfield. Fairfield is a unique and fantastic place to live, the community spirit is amazing and built up very quickly thanks to the energy of those involved. The parish council has been a driving force behind providing the Fairfield community with facilities and representing their views at the district council. Fairfield faces a lot of challenges both in the near future and going forward. I look forward to continuing to foster community cohesion and ensure that it remains a place where people want to live and raise their family.
Fairfield Parish Council has seven councillors in total. If you missed our introductions to the three new councillors in May, you can find them here.
In the coming months we plan to interview Nick Andrews and Jodie Chillery-Gravett, the two new ward councillors who represent Arlesey and Fairfield ward to Central Bedfordshire Council. We will publish these interviews on our website.
