Sunday 11 November 2018 will mark the centenary of the end of the First World War. Various groups in Fairfield will be organising events to commemorate those who fought and died in the Great War and in conflicts since. We will keep you updated on these as more details become known.
Fairfield Parish Council have agreed to purchase a beacon to be lit at 7pm on 11 November, forming part of a chain of 1,000 that will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories. It remains to be decided where in Fairfield the beacon will be sited. The gathering group will be invited to return to the Community Hall for a further event afterwards.
One possible location for the beacon is in the cemetery near Eliot Way. If you have another suggestion please pass it to FPC – enquiries@fairfieldparishcouncil.gov.uk.
