The Friends of the Fairfield Orchards are pleased to announce that there will be supervised planting of some new trees in the West Orchard on Saturday 17 March. In the newly cleared area where Hardy Way meets Eliot Way and the West Drive we’ll be planting seven cherry trees to create a Cherry Orchard. We will also be planting seven pear trees, and some cobnuts will be grafted from the cobnuts already present in this orchard. Once established, the trees will extend and enhance the existing orchard and provide a much-improved habitat for wildlife.

Tree planting is always a fun activity and everyone can join in. You can really see the difference you are making, and children can feel ‘ownership’ of the trees they helped to plant. If you would like to join us, meet in the orchard at 10am. We’ve got some equipment, but feel free to bring a spade.
