Halloween 2018 was exactly the treat we’ve come to expect, with Brunel Walk taking centre stage as usual, attracting visitors and media attention from far and wide.

‘Boonel’ is now such a big deal that it attracted donations of pumpkins from Henlow Bridge Lakes (whose annual Halloween event had taken place on the preceding weekend), and of sweets from the recently disbanded Fairfield Youth Club as well as from other local residents, all of which were gratefully received.

The forecast rain held off until late in the evening, which was quite lucky with all that cardboard and papier mache around, and most reports were of polite children and no trouble – although Tesco staff did think it was wise to take their eggs off the shelves to help keep the tricks to a minimum.
