Thank you Fairfield for being part of this year’s Kicks Count Festive challenge!
The support and interest has been overwhelming and very gratefully received. Donations of used stamps came in thick and fast throughout late December and early January as the deadline date approached. Envelopes and bags stuffed full of stamps from kind residents, family and friends dropped through our letterbox daily. A big thank you also to Fairfield Beaver and Cub groups who, along with donations from kind visitors to Fairfield Community Hall, managed to collect enough stamps to fill a large shoebox!
After a busy week of sorting and trimming a large carrier bag full of stamps (thank you to my husband) we were able to post off to the charity a whopping 514g of stamps.
The charity set out to collect 50kg of used and international stamps during 2018, double the target achieved in 2017.
This year volunteers have grown to a tremendous 107 drop off points across the UK, of which Fairfield Park is one. At present volunteers at the charity’s main collection hub are nearing the end of several weeks of trimming, sorting and weighing the mountain of stamps that they have received. An update will be published as soon as they announce the final total. One thing is for certain, our half a kilo of stamps is a wonderful contribution towards that 50kg target.
The challenge will be back in 2019 with an even greater target set no doubt, so do please keep collecting used stamps and drop them into 18 Nickleby Way or the collection box in the Community Hall.
Thank you once again for your kind support, Claire.
