We received a very positive response to our article ‘Is Fairfield Ready for a WI?’ in the February edition of Fairfield Matters – and we are pleased to announce that a newly formed Fairfield WI has materialised!

Fairfield WI will meet in the Community Hall at 7.30pm on the first Wednesday of every month. Meetings will usually include a speaker (to be confirmed before the meeting), a raffle, tea/coffee and chat, and any WI business which requires discussion.

If you’ve never been to a WI meeting before, please do come and try it out. Our inaugural meeting on 3 April had a great turnout, with lots of enthusiasm and ideas. As the year progresses we hope to organise events, craft sessions and local outings – we will ask our members what they would like their WI committee to arrange and take our lead from them.

We are affiliated to the Bedfordshire branch of the WI and so will also receive information about their events. It’s the Centenary of the Bedfordshire County Federation WI this year, so lots of special events will be taking place.

An annual subscription costs £42, but if you feel you’re not ready to join just yet then you are very welcome to come along as a guest for £5 per meeting. For more details or to be added to the Fairfield WI email list, please email fairfieldwibeds@outlook.com. We hope to meet with you soon.
