The following week both the men’s A and B teams lost, to Ampthill and Sandy Town respectively.
Meanwhile the women’s A team, also competing in the East Beds League, had a great result in their opening match against Maulden, winning 37–27.
In the County League, rinks competition, the men lost their first match at home against Biggleswade Town, but enjoyed success against St Andrews the following week.
In friendly matches played so far there were wins against Mowsbury Park, Baldock Town Wardown Park and Maulden, but close defeats against Sandy Town, Stotfold and Biggleswade Town.
Finally, once again Fairfield Bowls Club has increased the playing membership this year. Many new bowlers have signed on and regular coaching sessions have commenced, which augurs well for the future.
If anyone is interested why not pop along to the club on match days or Wednesday and Friday evenings for a casual rollup.
