Community Speed Watch is a scheme to help people reduce traffic speeding through their neighbourhood. For several months now the Fairfield Speed Watch team has been conducting speed watch sessions on the Hitchin Road, and like all things community related we are always after more volunteers. Are you willing to come and join us?
What does speed watch involve? Well, we work under the direction of Bedfordshire Police, and for insurance purposes all volunteers need to complete the training course, which lasts two to three hours. After that you can join in the organised sessions. A session lasts one hour and we try to hold one each week, at various times that suit the volunteers. There is no requirement to complete a set number of sessions, but whatever you are able to do is appreciated. There are a number of sites where sessions can be carried out, and all have been risk-assessed by a trained person for Bedfordshire Police.
If you think reducing traffic speed is important and are interested in coming to join us please email nick.reynolds@fairfieldparishcouncil.gov.uk. You would be welcome to come along to one of our sessions to see what it is all about.
