The return of Apple Day – always one of the highlights in Fairfield’s social calendar – on 18 September brought all the usual apple juicing, children’s activities, food vendors, farm animals (and machinery) and performances to the green behind the Community Hall – and this year they were joined by a great many more stalls from local businesses than usual, not to mention the music and bar. We must have been looking forward to our first gathering in almost two years, because we turned out in bigger numbers than ever, too. Safely distanced, of course!
