GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) allows its staff one ‘Orange Day’ each year – a paid day off to volunteer with a charity, non-profit organisation or educational institution. This year, GSK’s Global Quality Assurance (GQA) team decided to use their Orange Day to support Fairfield Park Lower School. Recently, the children have not been able to use their playing field for health and safety reasons. To remedy this, the GQA team, along with some parents and staff, dug up stones from the field. This will enable it to be reseeded and then ready for next year, so that the children will be able to safely start to use their playing field. The school very much appreciated the work of the team. It was definitely hard work and there were a few aching backs and sore knees, but the weather was kind to us and there was great team and community spirit.
