The 1st Fairfield Park Scouts were founded in 2014 and are currently recruiting for leaders and assistant leaders for Beavers (age 6-8), Cubs (age 8-10) and Scouts (age 10-14). Both boys and girls within these age groups are welcome to attend, and meetings take place at Fairfield Community Hall (Monday or Thursday evenings).

They spend a lot of time doing outdoor activities (this term the Beavers did apple picking and bulb planting). They also build their self confidence, resilience and ability to work as a team along with important life skills, such as first aid.

Sadly, the Beavers and Cubs have more children on the waiting list than they can accommodate at the moment – about 60! – but they only need one or two more adults to start a new ‘colony’! So if you would like your child to be involved and think you can spare some time each week to help out as a leader or assistant, please contact Andrew Harris at andrew.harris@1stfairfieldpark.org.uk or visit www.1stfairfieldparkscoutgroup.org.uk.

Even if you don’t think you have the time but would like to find out more about what’s involved, Andrew would be happy to have a chat. Anna Titmus, who has been working as an assistant leader for the Beavers for a few months now, says “It’s so much fun!” – as I think you can see from the pictures below.

Amber Fortier moved to Fairfield Park in 2017 with her husband and three young children. She is originally from New York.
