If you’re out admiring Fairfield’s displays of spring bulbs this month, you might be interested to know (or be reminded!) that bulb planting was one of the first communal activities to take place in Fairfield, before we had a community hall, a parish council or a magazine. We can’t find a record of the communication that went out – some say there were notices on lampposts – but word definitely spread somehow and a group of people met outside Tesco bearing trowels, keen to introduce some colour to our surroundings. If you remember better than we do, please let us know!
