Fairfield Park Lower School carnival
In early June, Fairfield Park Lower School participated in our first ever Carnival Week. The whole school immersed themselves in all things carnival including learning about carnivals from around the world, listening to and making music, and designing carnival costumes and posters to advertise our own carnival parade around the school grounds.
At the end of the week, the children took part in a variety of workshops run by Rampage MAS Band, a specialist carnival company from Luton. These included costume making, steel pan workshops, drumming and soca aerobics.
The highlight of the week was our whole school parade and showcase, which took place on Friday afternoon. Our children, who were dressed in rainbow colours, paraded around the school grounds and then shared all the skills they had learnt during the week. The children thoroughly enjoyed celebrating all their achievements and participating in this whole school event.
“I’ve never been to a carnival before and I loved making the costumes and listening to the music!”
“I enjoyed how we all got to dress up and how we all celebrated together as a whole school.”
