Thank you to everyone who tidies the telephone box library when they pass – many hands make light work! If you would be prepared to take on a little extra responsibility, Fairfield Parish Council is looking for a small group of volunteers to help maintain the library on a regular basis, since the lady who has done this for the past few years is moving away.
This will involve checking in regularly to keep the shelves stacked neatly and the floor clear of books (anything left on the floor gets wet), and rotating stock with the supply in the community hall. If there are a few helpers it should only take 30 minutes of your time each week. Once a quarter the rotated used stock also needs to be taken and donated to the charity ‘Just be a child’, based in Hitchin, as there is limited storage in the community hall.
