The tennis court alongside the cricket pitch has been out of action since the beginning of November when a large branch fell onto the fence, bringing part of it down. The branch has now been cleared and it is hoped that repairs will be made in time for the tennis season. Although the court is not used for tennis in the winter, the damage has displaced the popular Doggie Social group that uses the court for an off-lead gathering on Sunday mornings.
The good news is that, after a long hiatus, the group’s organisers have managed to find an alternative venue. For now, they will meet at the secure Woof and Wag dog training ground, next to the Two Chimneys pub on Hitchin Road, at 10am on Sundays. Anyone driving to join them is asked to park at the back of the pub car park, leaving the front free for pub customers – and it is suggested that you also support the pub by buying a drink while you’re there.
If you’d like to join the group, you can find them on Facebook by searching for ‘Fairfield Doggie Social U.K.’
