The opening game of Fairfield Bowls Club’s 2023 season was the traditional Captain versus Chairman competition. The event took place in glorious sunshine on Easter Saturday with the Club Ladies’ Captain, Teresa Hazelwood, narrowly beating the Club Chairman by eight shots. Before the match a plaque was presented to the Club by Marcia Dunstone, representing Bowls England, in recognition of the recent development project completed with their financial support. Teresa Hazelwood and John Turner received the award on behalf of the Club. The ladies of the Fairfield Women’s Institute have continued their tradition of decorating the postbox in Dickens Boulevard with a knitted and crocheted topper to celebrate national events – in this case the upcoming coronation of King Charles III. They also entered this exquisite creation into the Bedfordshire WI Coronation Topper competition and were awarded first place. A great achievement! And finally, the scouts have been helping the FPRA to water the new trees outside Fairfield Park Lower School, and will continue to do so over the warm spring and summer months.
