If you have a few hours to spare and would like to put them to good use improving our surroundings, sharing your skills with others or just giving something back to the community, Fairfield offers plenty of opportunities for volunteering. This month we are featuring ourselves, the Fairfield Matters Editorial Group – read on to find out more.

Who are they? A small group of Fairfield residents (currently just three, and all female) who enjoy writing and think it’s important to keep themselves and others informed about local issues.

What do they do? Put together this magazine and keep the website and Facebook page updated.

Who can join? Any resident who can identify, research and/or write stories relevant to other Fairfield residents, or who has experience of designing pages or maintaining a website, or who can offer any other skills that they think the magazine could benefit from.

Where and when do they meet? Usually on the first Tuesday evening of the month, in a member’s house, often with wine.

What’s in it for me? The chance to play a big part in shaping FM, to see your work in print, and (probably) to know a lot more about what goes on in Fairfield than you do currently.

How can I get involved? Email editor@fairfieldmatters.com and introduce yourself.

Why now? There are lots of nice stories on the horizon (Halloween, Christmas…) for you to put your twist on.
