The day kicked off with the popular 1k family fun run at 10.30am. A short, sharp shower just as it ended turned to sunny intervals in time for the start of the 5k at 11.30, and in spite of some fierce competition at the front this race had a warm and friendly atmosphere thoroughout, with many parents and children running together here too, and other children choosing to pair up with friends.
The field was a little smaller than in the previous two years, but it was still quick. The record of 18:44 set last year remains unbeaten, but the fastest child, Bailey Mapletoft, came home in an incredible 21:10 and several others beat their times from previous years. £2,600 was raised for Fairfield Park Lower School.
