September’s WI meeting was well attended and our guest speaker was one of the country’s leading watercolour portrait artists, Henlow-based Glynis Barnes-Mellish, who gave an interesting insight into her journey into the art world. She sold her first painting aged just 14, and has painted the portraits of many famous people.
Several members of our WI also attended a splendid afternoon tea at Woburn Sculpture Gallery last month, one of the many events available to WI members. Details of future events are available at every meeting.
We have many ideas for events and if you have any ideas we would love to hear from you. Please email us at fairfieldwibeds@gmail.com or come along to our meetings, which are held in the Community Hall on the first Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm. Guests are very welcome at £5 per person.
October’s speaker was Dr Kay Elder, a research scientist and expert on IVF who works at Bourn Hall, where the world’s first IVF clinic began. It was an opportunity to reach out to our younger community in Fairfield with a fascinating insight into her career.
