Fairfield Hall residents Val and Terry Good celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on 26 September with a lunch party at Mount Pleasant Golf Course. The couple met on the way to Australia in 1955 – Terry was a steward and Val was travelling to meet her father, who was there for work. In her words, “Terry and I clicked! Whenever he docked in Melbourne we would meet and he eventually joined me and my parents in 1957.” The call of the old country brought the couple back to the UK in early summer 1959 and they were married at Dunstable Priory on 26 September the same year. Val and Terry spent 50 years in Breachwood Green, where initially Val was the village postmistress and where they were both involved in a music hall group which raised money for local charities for over 25 years. They moved to Fairfield Hall at the end of May 2015. Val told us: “It was one of the best decisions we have ever made. We are so happy here and have been overwhelmed at the warm welcome and friendship we’ve received from the community – the Hall and the Park.”
