1st Fairfield Park Scout Group, like many other organisations, has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Thankfully, with the support of dedicated leaders and parents, scouting activities have continued, albeit in a virtual format and not face to face. This is in accordance with Scout Association policy and government advice.
In spite of this and with the benefit of Zoom, the scouts of Fairfield have participated in a variety of activities organised by the leaders and Biggleswade District, leading to numerous awards. There are many badges that scouts can work towards at home, this keeps them active and also keeps them working towards their individual awards.
During the course of the year the scout group has unfortunately had to cancel a number of scheduled events. This has meant that money collected needed to be refunded. However, parents of Fairfield scouts have generously donated some of this money to two local charities. The Need Project and The Garden House Hospice each received cheques for £200.
It is hoped that scouting activities, as you know them, can return safely in the New Year. The visible presence of young scouts around Fairfield participating in community events and other activities will undoubtedly herald the return to normality.
