The Fairfield Community Hall team, in conjunction with Fairfield Parish Council, is delighted to be hosting Fairfield’s very first public Christmas light switch on – in previous years, although there have been lights, they have been switched on without ceremony. We have a brand new Christmas tree this year, which will be erected on the stage in the Urban Park, and we would love for lots of residents to come and see it lit up for the first time on Sunday 28 November at 5pm.

The existing tree – love it or loathe it – will be staying. It was actually never intended to be a Christmas tree, but has taken on that role over the last few years because it’s roughly the right shape and in the right place at the centre of the village. We have spoken with our resident horticultural experts and they have confirmed that the tree is still healthy. Removing it would be costly, and there is no need to do so.

Following the switch on we will have the wonderful Variety Express, a theatre company which raises funds for local charities, performing Christmas songs on the stage – so do bring along some cash to support them. Following them we have our very own FlowArt group, who meet on Wednesday evenings in Fairfield Community Hall, performing with LED Hoops, Poi and devil sticks. In case of inclement weather, the performances will take place inside the Community Hall. In addition, the Fairfield Women’s Institute will be joining forces with Fairfield Bowls Club to sell hot chocolate, mulled wine and mince pies to keep you all fed and warm throughout.

We hope you can join us for a wonderful evening of Christmas cheer and entertainment!
