Central Bedfordshire Council opened a consultation at the end of December into a proposal for further waiting restrictions (yellow lines) on Dickens Boulevard, intended to discourage dangerous parking, increase visibility and ease traffic flow around Fairfield Park Lower School. This follows the introduction of waiting restrictions outside Tesco in 2018. Comments on social media tended to take the view that the proposal doesn’t go far enough – and also highlighted that without enforcement the restrictions would make little difference to behaviour, as has been demonstrated outside Tesco. The public consultation has now closed and with the next Traffic Management Meeting at which this scheme could be discussed scheduled for 28 March it’s a waiting game (!) to see whether the new restrictions will be adopted.
